We offer the Elegant Escape Store GTFO beaded bracelets with a tungsten carbide striker bead and a AHK3-rf handcuff key with TWISTLOCK (which prefents the key from easily coming off the cord). This is a more feminine version of the basic GTFO-wrist-strap made with black elastic paracord. We obtain the GTFO-wrist-strap bracelets from an authorized dealer, OscarDelta, and add either silver-colored or antique brass-colored beads.
We also hope to offer full-sized handcuff keys discretely hidden in velvet or velvet-bejeweled zipper pulls and or waist clip.
GTFO (Get THe F**k Out) products are designed to help a person escape in the event of kidnapping or unlawful detainment. There are other wonderful products such as bootlace handcuff keys for escape, as well as many self-defense products like stun guns, pepper spray and much more, available from other businesses.
We originally researched GTFO bracelets on Amazon, Etsy, and various self-defense websites. We looked for three qualities: a discrete strike bead that could break tempered glass, a strong stretchy cord that does not break, and a durable key that works on high security handcuffs.
We found that most GTFO bracelets on the market had tungsten or tungsten carbide beads that were 10 mm (1 cm or over 1/3 of an inch) in diameter. This large size makes the very noticeable, especially on small wrists. The tungsten carbide strike bead on the GTFO-wrist-strap is only 5 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm wide.
In addition, many of the cheaper products had a tungsten bead, not tungsten carbide. Tungsten is weaker and less durable than tungsten carbide. Tungsten is a 7 on Moh's scale of hardness, while tungsten carbide is an 8 or 9, making it as hard as corundum (sapphires and rubies). Finally, tungsten carbide is a much more resilient metal (not brittle) and less likely to scratch, deform, or shatter.
Many of GTFO bracelet dealers did not respond to our inquiries about what type of elastic cord was used in their bracelets. The GTFO-wrist-strap uses a high quality, UV stabilized shock cord with a braided poly outer and natural rubber core.
Finally, the AHK3-rf handcuff key on the GTFO-wrist-strap comes with a TWISTLOCK, which prevents the key from easily falling off the bracelet.
This is an excellent point. If you want a simple, no-frills GTFO-wrist-strap for yourself or a more masculine loved one, we encourage you to shop OscarDelta's Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/OscarDelta.
However, we wanted a more feminine GTFO bracelet that goes with dressy outfits, and were unable to find any products via the internet. We decided to make our own, then our friends and families requested them, and so we decided to make them ourselves using the best product available as a starting point..
To use the tungsten-carbide striker bead:
- Take off the bracelet.
- Slide the knots towards each other.
- Slide the curved tube beads and decorative beads towards the knots.
- The striker bead should now have bare elastic shock cord on each side.
- Pinch the striker bead between the index finger and thumb of your dominant hand.
- Use the index finger and thumb of your other (non-dominant) hand and make a “slingshot” Y shape.
- Pull the striker bead back until the elastic shock cord is stretched taut and place the “slingshot Y” fingers against the tempered glass.
- Release the striker bead against the glass to break it.
To use the AHK3-rf handcuff key:
- Take off the bracelet (optional.
- Slide the knots away from each other.
- The handcuff key should now have bare elastic shock cord on each side.
- Option 1 (key on bracelet, if you are dexterous/flexible):
o Hold the base of the key and angle the end of the key away from the bracelet.
- Option 2 (key off bracelet):
o If the handcuff key has the TWISTLOCK, use your fingers (or needle-nose pliers) to gently twist the lock until the groove on the TWISTLOCK lines up with the groove on the handcuff key.
o Pull and stretch the shock-cord until it is thin enough to fit through the groove on the key - Pull on the key to extract the shock-cord from the channel.
- Insert the key into the handcuffs.
- Rotate the key until the handcuffs are unlocked.
The adjustable bracelet can fit wrists ranging in size from 3 inches to 8 inches in diameter. However, we need your wrist measurement (the circumference of your wrist where you plan on wearing the bracelet) if you want an optimal fit. If your wrist falls outside that size range we may be able to make you a custom bracelet.
The AHK3-rf handcuff key works on the following handcuffs (plus more that share the common key-way):
- ALCYON
- ASP
- CLEJUSO
- HIATTS
- KYOUNG CHANG
- PEERLESS
- RALKEM
- RUSSIAN BRS-1
- SMITH & WESSON
- TCH
- UZI
- WALTER
- YUIL
The AHK3-rf also operates handcuffs that have a bent pin in the keyway that would otherwise block a standard handcuff key.
To install the AHK3-rf handcuff key:
- Position the channel of the key over the shock-cord - Pull and stretch the shock-cord until it is thin enough to fit through the groove on the key - Insert shock-cord inside the key - Release the cord - The shock-cord will expand to its normal size inside the key.
- If the handcuff key has the TWISTLOCK, use your fingers or needle-nose pliers to twist the lock until the groove on the TWISTLOCK no longer lines up with the groove on the handcuff key.
To remove the AHK3-rf handcuff key:
- If the handcuff key has the TWISTLOCK, use your fingers or needle-nose pliers to twist the lock until the groove on the TWISTLOCK lines up with the groove on the handcuff key
- Pull and stretch the shock-cord until it is thin enough to fit through the groove on the key - Pull on the key to extract the shock-cord from the channel. - Your AHK3-rf is now ready to use
Note: You can also use the key on many handcuffs while it is still on the bracelet, depending on your dexterity.
The short answer, is do not remove the striker bead! It is extremely difficult to put it back on the cord. Replacement elastic shock cord can be purchased online. Look for something measuring 2-2.5 mm in diameter (this is thicker than 1/16" cord and smaller than 1/8" cord). Be sure to flame the ends to prevent unraveling.
Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that any product will save a life. First, they must be used properly, which requires clear and quick thinking in a crisis situation. Second, a kidnapper may use duct tape to secure you (our founder wears IRONLACE Unbreakable Round Bootlaces for this reason). Third, you may be cuffed with a different type of handcuff (the key should work on the types commonly used in the USA, Great Britain, and many other countries). Third, you must be able to maneuver the key into the handcuff lock and turn it properly while you are handcuffed. Your ability to do this depends on whether your hands are cuffed in front or behind you, how agile and nimble you are, and possibly whether or not you are willing to dislocate your shoulder, wrist or thumb to escape. Fourth, the tungsten carbide striker bead on the Elegant Escape Store GTFO bracelet can break tempered glass. However, windshields cannot be broken with the striker bead, In addition, newer cars may have coated windows that cannot be broken in this matter.
These are directions on how to reassemble the Elegant Escape Store anti-kidnapping GTFO beaded bracelet. You need the following items:
A GTFO-wrist-strap that comes with a tungsten carbide striker bead, a AHK3-rf handcuff key with TWISTLOCK, and an elastic shock cord with flamed ends to prevent fraying.
7 large-hole curved tube beads approximately 30 mm long and 5-6 mm in diameter, with a hole at least 3.5 mm in diameter.
3 or more large-hole decorative beads with a hole at least 5.5-6.5 mm in diameter so that they can slide over the curved tube beads.
2 round-nose pliers or 1 round-nose plier and 1 needle-nose plier.
If you are replacing the cord, measure the hole of your striker bead. 1/16-inch cord will probably work.
First, unknot the wrist strap:
- Gently grasp the cord right below the knotted end with the round-nose pliers.
- Gently grasp the cord near the other end of the knot with the needle-nose pliers. Be very careful if the pliers have ridges, as they can damage the cord.
- Work the knot loose by gently pulling and moving the round-nose pliers, not the needle-nose.
Lay the cord out straight.
Slide the key off the cord. Do NOT remove the striker bead!
Thread 3 curved tube beads and at least 2 decorative beads onto one end of the cord. Loosely knot that end to prevent the beads from slipping off.
Thread 4 curved tube beads and at least 1 decorative bead onto the second end of the cord. Loosely knot this end of the cord aroundthe other end of the cord between the 2nd and 3rd curved tube bead. Make sure one decorative bead remains close to the striker bead and the remaining decorative beads are at the end of the cord with the 3rdcurved bead. You will add the key to this end in a few steps.
Untie the loose knot on the “key end”. Loosely knot this end of the cord around the other end of the cord between the 2ndand 3rd curved tube bead. Make sure the one decorative bead remains close to the striker bead.
At this point there should be 2 curved tube beads and 1 decorative bead on each side of the striker bead in the center portion of the beaded bracelet. One of the overlapping portions of the bracelet should have 1 curved tube bead and at least 1 decorative bead. The 2nd overlapping portion of the bracelet should have 2 curved tube beads.
To install the AHK3-rf handcuff key:
- Position the channel of the key over the shock-cord.
- Pull and stretch the shock-cord until it is thin enough to fit through the groove on the key.
- Insert shock-cord inside the key.
- Release the cord.
- The shock-cord will expand to its normal size inside the key.
- If the handcuff key has the TWISTLOCK, use your fingers or needle-nose pliers to gently twist the lock until the groove on the TWISTLOCK no longer lines up with the groove on the handcuff key. The lock groove should be at least 90° from the key groove to prevent to key loss.
Double-check that the bracelet fits and looks the way you want. Then use your fingers and/or round-nose pliers to really tighten the knots.
Slide the 2 decorative beads near the striker bead down and cover the knots.
